You can expand or hide the search options panel by clicking ▼[Show options] / ▲[Hide options].
Search type:
Return Definitions - Look up word meanings (default).
Match headwords exactly - Only show exact matches.
Match prefixes - Find all words beginning with your input.
Match substring occurring anywhere in a headword - Find all words containing your input anywhere.
Match suffixes - Find all words ending with your input.
POSIX 1003.2 (modern) regular expressions - Use regex patterns for flexible searches.
Database:
Any - Search across all databases (default).
First match - Stop at the first database that contains the word.
... (Choose Individually) - Pick specific databases to search.

^ - Must appear at the start of the search pattern.
$ - Must appear at the end of the search pattern.
. - Matches any single character.
* - The preceding character may appear zero or more times.
Example
Want to find a word that starts with di and ends with ry (like di??????ry)?
Use POSIX 1003.2 (modern) regular expressions search with: ^di.*ry$
