Ju·lep n.
  1. A refreshing drink flavored with aromatic herbs; especially Med., a sweet, demulcent, acidulous, or mucilaginous mixture, used as a vehicle.

  2. An alcoholic beverage composed of brandy, whisky, or some other spirituous liquor, with sugar, pounded ice, and sprigs of mint; -- called also mint julep. [U.S.]

  Mint n.  Bot. The name of several aromatic labiate plants, mostly of the genus Mentha, yielding odoriferous essential oils by distillation. See Mentha.
